The strange thing is that the Solar Ark was born out of a big mistake. Several years ago Sanyo announced an ambitious undertaking. The company wanted to make the largest PV system in the world, a 3.4 MW installation to mark its 50th anniversary. But the plans were side railed by Sanyo's monocrystalline cell scandal – a recall on these predecessors of the hybrid technology due to insufficient output.
It looks great and the fact that it was made from the recalled cells is fascinating. Great work Sanyo.
This is fabulous -- wish we had some of this innovative imagination in the US these days.
Uh, they spelled it wrong. They totally meant "Solar Park." How embarrassing...
This thing is awesome. I want one!
I think it should have been Solar Arc since it is slightly curved, maybe they made it Ark to make it bit cool, don't know.
Heh, right, good point. I like the idea of ark status indicating coolness. That Noah...he was all that!
Maybe it's 'Ark' in the sense that they plan to get in it when the lights go out. Who said another 'flood' has to be rainy?
Very interesting structure - perhaps they should make more mistakes
I visited the famous PS10 in Seville this summer at full midday exposure. The halo created by the intense light around its tower and over the mirrors is close to a psychodellic experience.
I looked at it and mind rejected it as unreal.
